2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E NYC Taxi Cab

Over the years, a number of Blue Oval vehicles have been used to haul folks around various parts of the world, including the Ford Escape Hybrid and Crown Victoria, to name just a couple. That list now includes an all-electric vehicle — the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E — which was recently spotted in taxi cab form in New York City, perhaps the one place in the world that most folks associate with yellow taxi cabs, and it certainly looks like it belongs there.

Unlike some taxis, this 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E isn’t anything terribly over the top, however. Aside from its blazing yellow paint, the cab has very minimal graphics, save for a “T” on the front doors, a number, and the requisite sign on the roof. It’s relatively stealth compared to some cabs we’ve seen (and ridden in) over the years, that much is for certain.

While we’re sure to see more Mach-E taxi cabs roaming around in the coming years, Ford’s EV crossover will likely be used in other kinds of fleets as well, including law enforcement, potentially. A special pilot Mach-E with the GT’s powertrain recently completed Michigan State Police testing and passed, though there were some opportunities discovered in terms of its ability to haul equipment. Regardless, the Mach-E did become the first EV to pass MSP’s rigorous testing.
