| "Let It (Magna) Flow" Mustang enthusiasts like their cars fast, their exhaust loud, and they can tell what you're running just by listening to your car idle. When it came time to upgrade our 1995 Mustang GT's original factory h-pipe with 4 (yes, 4) catalytic converters, we decided to upgrade to a Magnaflow catted x-pipe. Our friends at Latemodel Restoration Supply had the part on our doorstep faster than you can say "Tru-X Pipe with MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust/Catalytic Converters". MagnaFlow's high-flow catalytic converters are designed to do two jobs: reduce emissions and improve flow. The emission-reducing task is taken care of by two high-efficiency ceramic catalysts that use heat and a precious metal coating to burn off harmful elements. Flow improvements are accomplished by utilizing fast-flowing mandrel-bent tubing and incorporating MagnaFlow's Tru-X crossover pipe that replaces the inefficient factory h-pipe. Installation is fairly straightforward, the hardest part being loosening the nuts and bolts which have been exposed to the elements for over 13 years. The guys at Mustang Magic barely broke a sweat on this installation job, and the part looked great on the car while it was still on the lift. One turn of the ignition key let us know immediately that the exhaust had been "uncorked". Our Stang's exhaust now had a deeper, throatier sound. It felt quicker off the line, and more responsive to right foot go-pedal carpet mashings. Revs come quicker and the venerable 5.0 V8 seems to have gained a few more usable sections of the tachometer past 3,500 RPM. The exhaust soundtrack is raspier when blipping the throttle on a downshift. When it comes time to replace your rusty old cats, consider a Magnaflow catted x-pipe, and let it flow, baby, let it flow!
