For Sale: Modified 1983 Ford Mustang GT (5.0, 5-Speed, 53K miles)
This 1983 Ford Mustang GT was originally designated as a media fleet vehicle by Ford and delivered to Popular Hot Rodding magazine for use in a series of cover-story articles comparing contemporary American muscle cars. The Mustang was modified to the specifications of then-Technical Editor C. Van Tune who commissioned a modification of its 5.0-liter V8 from Bill Stroppe Racing, and other work was performed by the technical staff of the magazine. Modifications included MSD ignition components, headers and a performance exhaust system, Quickor suspension system with progressive-rate springs, polyurethane bushings, larger anti-roll bars and more. In early 1984, the car was purchased from Ford Motor Company by Van Tune, who added custom interior touches, wrote additional articles on the car, and reportedly sold it to a friend in 1992 before reacquiring it in 2016. Service in November 2019 included brake work and an oil change. This modified Fox-body shows 53k miles and is offered in California with period magazine articles and photographs, a build sheet and window sticker, a Carfax report, and a clean Montana title in the seller’s name.
