Rick Zappia's 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby G.T. 500
1967 Shelby G.T. 500 Has Been His Valentine for Nearly 50 Years.
Rick Zappia was young, ambitious, optimistic, and bursting with joy when, in January 1970, he walked into his local Ford dealership to order a brand new Boss 429 Mustang. His dreams were quickly shattered, however, when the salesman informed him that all of the Boss 429 cars slated for production had already been allocated. Dejected, but not defeated, he plunked down a $500 deposit for the next best thing, a Boss 351 Mustang.
Two weeks after ordering the Boss 351, Zappia was thumbing through Buy Lines, a local Long Island newspaper filled with classified ads, and spotted a 1967 Shelby G.T. 500 for sale.
