1983 Mercury Capri RetroFox
Throwback Project: Transforming a 1983 Mercury Capri into RetroFox.
When we look back at decades we often think of the earliest years of a new decade as an extension of the previous era. In the case of the Fox platform, it is most closely associated with the ’80s, but it was born in the fading years of the ’70s and soldiered on into the early ’90s. One of the longest-running Ford platforms ever, it also served as the foundation for a multitude of vehicles ranging from Ford Fairmont to Mercury Zephyr and Thunderbird to Mark VII.
Of course the most popular vehicle based on this storied unibody platform was the ’79-93 Mustang. However, during the early run of the platform, the ’79-86 Mercury Capri was a close cousin to the Mustang. If you are into Foxes, this is not news, and the owners of the ride you see here are definitely into Foxes.
