TV funny man Tim Allen and Mustang mogul Steve Saleen created a car even Tim Allen thinks is a bit over the top.
We watch enviously the comings and goings of the entertainment industry elite in their turn-key hot rods. After all, exotic lifestyles demand exotic transportation. But there is one shining West Coast star who has one-upped his colleagues in the sportscar race, and with a Mustang, no less. Tim Allen, star of ABC’s Home Improvement, went to one of the original sources for fast Mustangs, Steve Saleen, and came home with an 11.8-second, 576 horsepower ride. “It’s frightening,” says Allen, using the word in the very best possible light. “I’m close to being in trouble all the time. I obey the laws, but getting up to speed is just so much fun. The most fun is that it’s an 11-second car. It’s an absolute scream.”
