For Sale: 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C Race Car #001 (5.0L "Cammer" V8, 6-speed)
This 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C is #001 of Ford’s S197 production-based race cars and was one of two factory-backed cars raced by Multimatic in the 2005 Grand Am GS class. The car was primarily driven by David Empringham and Scott Maxwell, and it achieved podium finishes in seven races and won three in an effort that saw Ford win the Grand Am manufacturer’s championship, Empiringham win the driver’s championship, and Multimatic win the team championship. After the 2005 season, it was displayed at Multimatic’s Detroit, Michigan offices before being acquired by the seller in 2019. Finished in white with blue racing stripes, the car is powered by a 5.0-liter ‘Cammer’ V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes 18″ Fikse wheels, Brembo front brakes, adjustable suspension, a Sparco racing seat with a harness, a fire-suppression system, a roll cage, and a fuel cell. Repairs and maintenance are said to have included replacement of a race-damaged right-side mirror, replacement of the fuel cell, fluid changes, and a safety check performed by Capaldi Racing that included replacement of aged bushings and fuel lines. This FR500C is now offered in Michigan on a bill of sale.
