For Sale: 1986 Ford Mustang SVO (Turbo-4, 5-speed, 58K miles)
Turbocharged Factory Hot Rod.
Ford’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team set out to create and execute a Mustang that would rival many of Europe’s finest during the 1980s. Produced from 1984-1986, The Mustang SVO stood out from the more plebian Fox Mustangs of the four-eyed era with distinctive aerodynamic bodywork as well as significant suspension, braking and other performance improvements to make full use of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Available only with a manual transmission and sold in relatively low numbers, the SVO was the Mustang for the driver that preferred accurate handling and collectability.
The 1986 Ford Mustang SVO being presented here is from the last year of production, which benefitted from all the updates including the flush-mounted headlamps and higher horsepower ratings. With slightly over 58,000 miles showing, this mostly original example has received a few modifications over the course of its three-owner life.
