For Sale: 1987 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 SSP (5-speed, 95K miles)
This 1987 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 notchback is said to have been a Special Service Package example ordered by the Mesa, Arizona Police Department that was retired in 2002 and sold at an auction. It then reportedly sat in a yard until it was acquired in 2007 by the seller, who refinished the car in Regatta Blue and refreshed the blue cloth interior. Power comes from a 302ci HO V8 that is said to have been rebuilt with replacement piston rings, bearings, and gaskets and is paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, powdercoated wheels, dual exhaust, an inoperable Motorola CB radio, and a limited-slip differential with 2.73:1 gears. A number of police props will accompany the car, including a functional radar gun as well as a toy shotgun, a gun rack, spike strips, and an in-car computer. This SSP Fox body is now offered with the aforementioned props, an accident-free Carfax report, and a clean Washington title.
