Ford Mustang Quietly Updated for 2021 Model Year
Ford has announced some minor updates for the ever-popular Mustang heading into the 2021 model year.
In a press release recently uncovered on the automaker’s media site, it has been confirmed that 2021 Mustang, Mustang GT, and Shelby GT500 models will now also be available in Antimatter Blue, Carbonized Grey, and Grabber Yellow.
Speaking of the Shelby GT500, it is now also available with a Carbon Fiber Handling Package. Included in this package are 20-inch black-painted carbon fiber wheels, adjustable strut top mounts, a catch can, gurney flap, and front splitter wickers.
Those familiar with the 2020 Shelby GT500 will know that it is available with a Carbon Fiber Track Pack and a separate Handling Pack and it seems this new Carbon Fiber Handling Package for 2021 combines features of these two into one package. What is unclear is if the Carbon Fiber Track Pack and Handling Pack will continue to be offered for 2021.
Either way, Ford has added that all EcoBoost and 5.0-liter V8-powered Mustang models for 2021 also land with Ford Co-Pilot360 as standard for 2021. Included in this package are auto high-beam headlights, a rearview camera, Blind Spot Information System, Lane-Keeping Assist, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency braking with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Dynamic Brake Support.
The most significant update for the Mustang’s 2021 model year is the availability of the Mach 1 variant. This latest press release confirms the vehicle will be offered in Fighter Jet Gray, Iconic Silver, Shadow Black, Oxford White, Velocity Blue, Twister Orange, Race Red, and Grabber Yellow.
