For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR Fastback ("King of the Road", Highland Green, white side stripes, 428ci "Cobra Jet" V8, 3-speed auto)
This 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is one of 1,053 “King of the Road” fastback models constructed during an abbreviated production run from May through July of 1968. This example was sold new at Niantic Motors in East Lyme, Connecticut in July 1968 and spent time in Missouri prior to the current owner’s acquisition in 2006. A multi-year refurbishment is said to have been completed in 2021 and included refinishing the car in Highland Green. Power is provided by a rebuilt 428ci “Cobra Jet” V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and additional features include a black vinyl interior, a 3.50:1 Traction-Lok differential, the Interior Décor and Visibility Groups, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, a Tilt-Away Steering Column, an AM radio, and Koni shocks. This Shelby GT500KR is now offered on dealer consignment in Georgia with a Deluxe Marti report, original sales paperwork, service records, hand-written refurbishment logs, and a clean Georgia title in the owner’s name.
