Avanti Is Forgotten Mustang-Based Convertible
Back in the early 2000s, retro design was in, and practically all major American manufacturers were using it on their cars. Some of the products of this trend included the Ford Mustang, the Chevy Camaro, the Dodge Challenger, and the infamous Chrysler PT Cruiser. However, one that many might not know of is the Avanti.
And that’s for good reason, as a little over 300 units based on Pontiac’s Firebird Trans AM or Formula were made from around 2000 through 2003 (or 2004, depending on the source) and less than 50 built on the 4th-gen Ford Mustang from 2004 (or 2005) through 2007, are believed to have been manufactured by Avanti Motors Corp., according to the registry at TheAvanti.com, before the project was axed.
