For Sale: 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR "King of the Road" Fastback (Lime Gold, 428ci "Cobra Jet" V8, 3-speed auto, 37K miles)
This 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR is one of 1,053 “King of the Road” fastback models constructed during an abbreviated production run from April through July of 1968. The car was built on April 23 and sold new by Gotham Ford in New York City. It was reportedly acquired by the seller from the original owner’s estate in June 2002, and the 428ci “Cobra Jet” V8 was overhauled and fitted with a new carburetor in 2013.
The car currently shows just over 37k miles and retains its original color combination of Lime Gold over a Décor interior with black vinyl upholstery. Additional equipment includes a three-speed automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, a tachometer, factory tinted glass, a glovebox-mounted stereo, front disc brakes, and 15″ alloy wheels.
Chassis 02008 is said to be the earliest GT500KR recorded in the Shelby American Automobile Club registry and is accompanied by an Elite Marti Report.
This GT500KR is now offered with original ownership documents, factory build sheets, an owner’s manual, and transferable New York State registration in the seller’s name.
