Barb Mullins’ Mustang Story:
“THANK YOU to Ford and the design team responsible for the 2021 Mustang Mach 1. I’ve had many expensive and (very) nice cars over the years, but I have to say that I’ve never experienced anything like this. Beyond the car itself, the invitation to the Ford Performance Driving School in North Carolina and then receiving a collectible “transmission & gears” gift set was just over the top!
“I’m 42 years old with two grown boys, and after driving mostly ‘mom-mobiles’ for 20 years, I decided it was time for something fun to drive – and it had to be a manual!. My oldest son had recently gotten a 2020 Mustang GT, and that car got me looking at the Mustangs. I liked his, but honestly I didn’t want to drive what everyone else was driving (as nice as they are). But then I saw a new Mach 1 while I was just looking around on Akins Ford website.
“The ‘Fighter Jet Gray’ color caught my eye in an instant. I didn’t exactly know what I was looking at, but for some reason it drew me in. I watched that car for a month. I scoured the internet and watched YouTube videos for anything and everything related to the new Mach 1. The more I watched and learned, the more I liked it. Finally, a month later I had to go see it in person. The team at Akins had it show-ready for me when I arrived, and I fell in love. From the test-drive’s first up-shift to the final parking brake pull, I HAD TO HAVE IT! It was love at first sight.
“Fast forward several months and now the feeling is so much more. I’ve never considered myself a Mustang fan, but I am now. All the reviews and videos I see are from men (which I understand), but I want anyone who’ll listen to know that this new Mustang Mach 1 is for a woman, too!”
