2024 Mercury Marauder Rendering (HotCars)
Mercury introduced the third-gen Marauder in 2003 to liven up its portfolio with a performance sedan for young buyers. The full-sized car used the same Panther platform as the Grand Marquis and the Ford Crown Victoria. But it came with a bunch of mechanical upgrades to make it more engaging to drive.
Under the hood, the 2003-2004 Mercury Marauder packed a 4.6-liter DOHC V8, cranking out 302 horsepower. This motor was a variation of the engine used in the 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 and the Lincoln Aviator. The Marauder was supposed to cater to the niche of buyers shopping for an upgrade to the stellar 1994 - 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS.
Though great in concept, the Marauder could not achieve the same success as Chevy's high-performance sedan. But it remains a popular 'muscle car' from the era.
HotCars' digital artist Rostislav Prokop revives the Marauder for the 2024 model year through this stunning concept rendering. It imagines a possible new-age performance sedan from Ford, based on an old classic, to take on GM's current full-sized performance sedan - the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.
