Recaro Automotive Files for Bankruptcy After Over a Century of Business

It took just four years for a private investment firm to run the historic auto seat maker into the ground.

Another automotive company is biting the dust. This time the victim is the stalwart seat maker Recaro Automotive. According to a report from Autobild, the company filed for bankruptcy in Germany this week.

Recaro is the biggest name in automotive seating and, in addition to being the most popular aftermarket seat maker, it is also a supplier to OEMs like Ford, Honda, BMW, and more. Essentially any OEM that had a sporty car in its line up sourced its seats from Recaro more often than not.
