The Camaro might be on its way out the door, but its cross-town rival, the Ford Mustang, is still very much in the mix. In fact, with the Challenger also off the board, the Mustang will become the only American muscle coupe to survive past the 2024 model year.
The Mustang finds its way past 300 horsepower a little differently than its Chevrolet competitor. Instead of a six-cylinder engine, it uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, marketed under the EcoBoost banner that’s good for 310 ponies. New 2024 models have dropped the six-speed manual from the options list for that engine, however, making a 10-speed automatic the only available gearbox.
